About Botiwalla by Chai Pani

Presented by Chai Pani Restaurant Group, Botiwalla is Chef Meherwan Irani’s homage to the lively Irani Cafes of India – tea and kabab houses run by Parsis who immigrated to India in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. With a strange and wonderful mash-up of Victorian decor and Indian sensibilities, Irani Cafes catered to the English colonialists’ love of high tea and afternoon snacks.

The other inspiration behind the menu of Botiwalla is the late-night street food scene of India. His mission with Botiwalla is to bring the streets of India to life β€” the glowing charcoal sigris, the sizzling meats, the aromas of chaat masala*, and the crispy, crunchy, multi-textured street snacks β€” in the most delicious way possible.

This is my new Ponce favorite. The lamb was really well seasoned. Really liked their maggi ketchup. The iced chai and the pineapple turmeric soda is also a hit.

I’ve been here twice and had a good experience both times. The prices are moderate, and the flavors are rich and layered. The SPDP was tasty at first, but I found it a bit heavy after a while. The potato dish was excellent, and the lamb wrap was decent. Portions are quite generousβ€”I couldn’t finish everything. Overall, a good place to try if you’re looking for flavorful Indian street food.

Visited this place for the first time. It was a good experience. The menu is massive. They have wide options for vegetarian and non-vegetarian people; ranging from just appetizers to proper meal. We ordered boti rolls; chicken tikka boti roll and malai boti roll. The chicken was flavorful in both the rolls but a tad bit overfilled. We also ordered bhel puri and dahi puri - it was yummm!! Mango lassi was okay!! Lacked mango flavor. Didn’t love it. Suggestion: May be the rolls in a paratha would be the best.

AMAZING! That’s how I would describe the food we had at this restaurant in Ponce City Market. We ordered: -Masala Smashed Potatoes – Delicious, soft inside with crisp skin, and seasoned perfectly. -Paneer Tikka Roll – Great flavor, the paneer was soft, the vegetables were grilled well, the wrap was light, and everything came together beautifully. -Chicken Tikka Roll – Flavorful, juicy chicken grilled to perfection. The food is freshly grilled and made to order. The ambience is great, and the service was quick. Portions are filling, and the prices are very reasonable.

Wowie, this food was great!! The Chicken Tikka Roll with the sauce was delicious. The flavour of the sauce is fresh and it pairs great with it. The nan was nice and buttery and we enjoyed it with our meals. We also got Tea for Two, my husband that has been to India before said that the chai is the most authentic one he's had. The tea pot serves 6 cups and it was great with the dipping bread. A nice taste of Indian cuisine :)
